| The Weston Kiwanis Club will present the award every April to honor the memory of longtime Weston resident Millie Best. She organized the first "Green-Up Day" in Weston in 1972, and with the assistance of Kiwanis and others it became an annual event, involving the clean up of the discarded refuse along the shoulders of our roadways. In 1995, Millie, with the help of local legislators John Stripp and Judi Freedman, got the Governor to declare the last Saturday in April a statewide event. Millie passed away the summer of 2004. The award, which takes place in the form of a permanently displayed plaque, will be awarded to the Weston resident who best exemplifies her environmental concerns.
